As you are exploring adoption as an option for your family, we are sure that you have many questions. Once a month we ask Mike & Astra a question about their adoption experience.

Adoption Advice

Question:

What was placement/adoption day like? How did you feel?

Answer:

Nerve wrecked!!! This was the day that would change our lives forever, and we were still unsure if we would get our baby girl that day. It was like we were paralyzed all day until we received the call that we could come to the hospital. I remember placing the cell phone in the middle of us while we took a nap to catch up on sleep, and I kept turning the phone on to make sure that the battery wasn't dead or that I didn't have airplane mode on, all day, every 15 minutes, so I literally got no sleep. We got to the hospital, and we were greeted by our caseworker, who gave us the rundown of how the day would go. We were allowed 15 minutes with our daughter’s birth mom to talk with her and give her a gift. We got Denise home and fed, laid in bed, and marveled at God's work.
