From the first moment, we turned to each other and softly spoke the word, "Daddy". Carson's resemblance to his maternal grandfather was striking. Carson's big blue eyes were captivating. His smile was infectious. He was love at first sight. I recall leaving the site by train. Carson holding onto the rail and peering out in awe of the fresh breeze.
FROM THE GRADUATE
Not everyone has two birthdays, but I do. I celebrate the day I was born in Russia and my adoption birthday. Although adoption does not define me daily, it does set up the dual nature of my life. At times, my thoughts turn to how life could have been different. In reality, I boarded the Delta baby flight to begin my life's journey. I have been totally surrounded by love and support. My life stretched beyond my small home town to a religious day school, which afforded me the opportunity to travel to Israel. I am approaching graduation at a prestigious charter high school.
