Holi is here, and it’s time to celebrate with colors (so many colors!), laughter, and fun! People come together to spread joy, leave their worries behind, and dive into an entire rainbow of good vibes.
Holi is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrated mostly in India. Spring is here, so it’s time to celebrate the victory of good over evil by playfully throwing colored powders that symbolize joy and love. The festival has roots in several legends—including the story of Prahlad and Holika, and the playful antics of Lord Krishna.
Holi usually spans two days:
Holika Dahan – The first evening features bonfires that symbolize the triumph of good over evil.
Rangwali Holi – The second day is when people gather to throw colors, dance, sing, and enjoy festive foods like gujiya and thandai.
The festival is all about unity and social bonding as people from all walks of life come together to celebrate. Holi is now celebrated worldwide, and you may even be able to find a celebration near you!
Gladney Center for Adoption is committed to uniting children with loving families through international adoption. For families considering international adoption, here are a few general guidelines to expect:
Eligibility Requirements – Each country has specific criteria regarding age, marital status, and financial stability.
Home Study & Paperwork – A home study assessment ensures that families are prepared to adopt and meet country-specific requirements.
Travel Requirements – Many international adoptions require at least one trip to the child’s country of origin.
Legal Processes – Families must complete legal steps in both the child’s birth country and the U.S. to finalize the adoption.
Happy Holi to our new friends in India and to our future India adoptive families! Stay tuned in the weeks to come for our official India program opening announcement. Gladney is thrilled to expand its international adoption programs to include India, helping more children find loving, forever families.
