I remember the day vividly as if it was yesterday. Connor's birth mother had just gotten settled into Gladney housing the previous day. We spent a humid afternoon at the zoo enjoying our time together. That evening we were both totally surprised when she went into labor. The moment Connor arrived at the nursery: my heart was so overjoyed and forever grateful. I thanked God for both Connor's healthy delivery and for his truly amazing birth mother. As a couple, Brian and I were elated and honored. Placement left us with the feeling of completeness and beaming with pride.
FROM THE GRADUATE
I have never known anything other than adoption. Not knowing my heritage has been difficult at times. I don't have all the answers surrounding my adoption. But, I have learned that all the details do not matter. Garth Brooks says it best in his song. 'Mom". There is always a mother waiting for you who wants the best for you and to help make your dreams come true. My parents taught me to always look at the glass as half full, to pursue my dreams and to find happiness within myself. I give everything to my family who helped shape me.
