Experiencing Home In Different Ways

Written by Mark Melson | 12/19/19 3:00 PM

“There’s no place like home for the holidays,” the classic line by Perry Como that sets the tone for the holiday season (I bet you just sang it in your head). Home means fun holiday memories, I’m sure a few laughs, and maybe even a few tears. We all have our home for the holiday traditions. Who is hosting the festivities at their house? What will we bring? Who will be there? All of these make the season great!

At Gladney, we experience Home in a lot of different ways. This year, close to 250 children will be in their Forever Home for the very first time. Some as little babies and some as almost 18-year-olds, but all making new home for the holiday memories. Home is also the Gladney Home, our new home on the Fort Worth campus that houses teen and pre-teen girls who are living in foster care and waiting for their Forever Home

This year is our first year to open the Home, so we are creating new traditions and wonderful new memories for the girls in our care. Although we love having the girls with us in the Home and look forward to this special time of year, permanency through adoption is still our top priority, and hopefully, they will be making memories next year in their new Forever Home.

Thank you for your continued passion and support for Gladney and our mission of adoption. I wish you the very best during this wonderful holiday season, wherever your Home may be!
