Joseph
Joseph is an athletic youth who is an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He has expressed an interest in joining the armed forces after he graduates from high school. Joseph has reported that he enjoys school and has a lot of friends in school. He likes to participate in band, choir, and JROTC at school. Joseph’s favorite food is taco salad, chicken strips and his favorite drink is Dr. Pepper. He is respectful teen who is easy to engage with. Joseph responds well to positive praise. Joseph gets along well with adults and peers his age. Joseph articulates his wants and fears. He wants to be included in decisions which involve him and his future. Joseph has expressed that he wants to find his forever family before his 18th birthday.
Joseph wants to make good decisions and will need constant support and encouragement. He works hard at orchestrating situations and forecasting reactions to determine how to gain his desired results. At times, Joseph lacks the maturity to fully understand and master all that he experiences and therefore will act out over assertively. Afterwards, he is often disappointed and remorseful when he reflects on his actions. He is kind and affectionate when he is enjoying a calm day. Joseph desperately wants to be loved and accepted.

Parent Adoption Training is a required course for parents who wish to adopt a child from the state foster care system. This three day competency-based program is designed to prepare prospective adoptive parents for the challenges of parenting children that have experienced past trauma. |
