I remember the first day being so special for the entire family. Nathan was never put down but passed from hand to hand. His sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all took turns holding him. We felt so lucky to have been chosen to be his family. Throughout his childhood, what comes to mind most is his sweet and caring temperament. He has always been a thinker and is mindful of other's feelings and strives to understand the 'why' of what happens in the world.

From the Graduate

To me, adoption means that I have been given the opportunity for a different life. I don't know what growing up with my birth family would have been like, but I imagine it was a very difficult decision to make. So, I am grateful that adoption was chosen for me. Over the years, I have had to answer questions about my family, because we don't look the same. It has given me the chance to talk about adoption with my friends and potentially open their eyes to how adoption is a choice over other alternatives. I love my family, I'm proud to have adoption as part of my life story. I have 3 siblings and I bet all of us will adopt at least one child.

About Nathan

Nathan was very active in the Culinary Arts program. He won two SKILLS USA Gold Medals and an FCCLA Gold Medal and went to the state championship in April. He hopes to someday own his own restaurant.
