# Peanut Butter & Jelly | International Adoption

Peanut butter and jelly. Oreos and milk. Knife and fork. Movie and popcorn. Soap and water. Salt and pepper. You get the point. Some things are just meant to be a pair!  Enter Al (10) and Amie (7)—Yin and yang for sure. This bonded brother-sister pair is closer than close can be. They have lived the highest of highs and the lowest of lows together. While their short lives have been fraught with chaos, the one thing that has remained constant has been each other. In each other, they find a peace that only the closest of siblings can understand.

Al and Amie need a family to step forward and commit to them forever— a family to allow them to finally be siblings whose only worry for the day is which Lego to build (Al) or which doll to play with (Amie).

Colombia has a well-established international adoption program, overseen by the country’s central authority, the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF). Children available for adoption include siblings, older children, and those with medical or developmental needs. Families adopting from Colombia typically go through a process that includes:

1. **Eligibility Screening** – Prospective adoptive parents must meet Colombia’s legal and Gladney’s adoption requirements.
2. **Home Study & Dossier Submission** – A social worker evaluates the family's readiness, and documents are sent to Colombia.
3. **Referral Process** – Families receive information about a child or sibling group, including their medical and social history.
4. **Travel & Legal Process** – Adoptive parents must travel to Colombia to meet their child(ren), finalize the adoption in court, and fulfill the required bonding period.
5. **Post-Adoption Support** – Families commit to providing post-adoption reports and receiving support as their children adjust.
