Gladney Participates in the Quality Improvement Center for Adoption and Guardianship Support

There is a growing recognition that greater state and federal resources should be directed toward post adoption services and interventions for families, regardless of whether they adopted from foster care , internationally, or privately.  Gladney has been participating in the Quality Improvement Center for Adoption and Guardianship Support and Preservation (QIC-AG). This project identified, and is currently testing,  promising practices and evidence-based models of support and services for children and families to ensure and enhance stability and security in their adoptive and guardianship homes.

Two good resource tools that the project group created are fact sheets about adoption tailored for teachers and pediatricians, which will help raise awareness about the unique needs that some adopted children may have, especially if they have suffered trauma, even pre-birth trauma.  The project is currently finalizing the field testing on several helpful interventions for struggling teens, children, and families.
