From one of our Superkids Team members:

Y’all!! We are going to Taiwan again! If I counted correctly this will be my 17th Superkids trip to Asia since 2013. And guess what? I still get that flutter of excitement every single time when I see an email with dates and flights pop up in my inbox. Sure, part of it is because I really love Asia and part of it is because I really, really love the team of people I get to work with, but there is a bigger reason and I’m guessing it’s the reason most of you are reading this blog. It’s, or rather THEY, are the reason we endure those long days of travel, they are the reason we are all here doing what we do. It’s the kids. It’s all about the kids.

So here is the basic plan at this point, we are leaving for Taiwan (no Thailand this trip) on May 2nd and returning May 8th. We will let you know about where we will be on each day as we get closer to departure. The in-country details are still being worked out. I did get a peek at the list of kids we will be seeing. As always, we can’t wait to be able to share their sweet little pictures with you! We are also excited to be meeting the children who will be coming to Texas for a week this summer for our Taiwan Summer Camp! We are still looking for families interested in hosting these awesome kids, feel free to reach out to hosting@gladney.org to learn more about this program.

We have an experienced, though relatively small team going this time. Tina Ji, our Director of Asia Programs, Wendy Stanley, our Supervisor of Social Services, Asia Programs, Nancy Dobson, our pediatric physical therapist, and me, Erin Martin, our Superkids advocate. We have all been on Superkids trips to Asia, so that always makes it fun when everyone knows their role and just steps right into it when we get there.

Again, I have been doing this for a while. One of the things that just blows me away every time is your generosity. We let you all know what we need and you come through time after time. Even some of the kids know to expect a few goodies when we are there, but it’s the Lego sets the older ones know to look for. They love choosing a set of Legos before they leave! We are going to make it as easy as we can for you with an Amazon Wishlist. Thank you in advance for helping us make this trip a success!
