The Heart Gallery of North Texas: Changing Lives in 2025

Thousands of kids in foster care across Texas are waiting to find a forever family. For many, the dream of a permanent home can feel out of reach. That’s where the Heart Gallery of North Texas, presented by the Gladney Center for Adoption, comes in.

The Heart Gallery uses professional portraits to share the stories of children who need loving families. These photos, taken by volunteer photographers, show each child’s personality and help the community see them as individuals, not just statistics. The portraits are displayed in public places like malls, YMCAs, and offices, bringing the kids’ stories to life.

Is It Working?

Yes! The Heart Gallery has been very successful. Since it started in Central Texas, adoption rates have gone up. Adoption awareness campaigns like this show that storytelling through photography can make a huge difference.

The Heart Gallery has been making a difference in North Texas since 2021. It focuses on finding families for kids who are harder to place like older kids, siblings, or those with medical needs.

According to Tanya Houk, Director of Child Advocacy, the Heart Gallery connects families with children who might otherwise age out of the system. One inspiring success story involves a teenage boy who spent more than six years in foster care. Thanks to the Heart Gallery, he was adopted by a single dad. His life changed forever because someone saw his photo and took action.

Where Can You See the Heart Gallery?

You can find permanent Heart Gallery exhibits in several locations, including:

  • Stonebriar Mall in Frisco
  • Town East Mall in Mesquite
  • Hulen Mall in Fort Worth
  • The Parks Mall in Arlington

Some YMCAs and professional office buildings in North Texas also display these galleries.

How Can You Help?

There are lots of ways to get involved:

  • Adopt: Many kids in foster care are waiting for families, especially older kids and sibling groups.
  • Volunteer: Help at events, become a mentor, or assist with taking photos of children.
  • Host a Gallery: Businesses can display Heart Gallery photos to spread the word.
  • Donate: Your support helps programs like the Heart Gallery connect kids with families.

This year, let’s work together to make sure every child in foster care has a chance to find a loving home. By supporting the Heart Gallery of North Texas, you can help bring hope and love to kids who need it most.
