It’s Giving… Love for Adoption!

On September 19, 2024, $68 million was raised for over 3,000 nonprofit organizations. North Texas Giving Day has hosted an annual fundraising event in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2009.

Participants are encouraged to support local charities and nonprofits across a wide range of causes. One of those benefitting organizations is the Gladney Center for Adoption located in Fort Worth.

This year, $22,230 was raised by 46 donors for the Gladney Center for Adoption, specifically for their Adoption from Foster Care program and the Gladney Home for foster youth.

For over 135 years, Gladney has been creating bright futures through adoption. Beginning with their founder I.Z.T. Morris, who wanted to find loving, caring, and permanent families for children from the orphan trains, Gladney has always stood as an organization rooted in compassion, hope, and determination.

Today, Gladney’s team of over 100 employees advocates for waiting children in foster care, offers domestic infant adoption services, facilitates international adoptions, and provides long-term guidance, support, and resources for those whose lives are touched by adoption. They’ve even expanded their efforts to offer adoption education for students, teachers, medical professionals, and community members; trainings for adoption professionals and adoptive families; and post adoption counseling services for child and adult adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents in Texas.

Generosity from donors throughout the year makes Gladney’s work possible.

Over the past year, Gladney was able to make improvements across all their offered services, including:

  • Support for Expectant Mothers:
Donations allow Gladney to offer options counseling, financial assistance, and emotional support to expectant mothers as they navigate making an adoption plan.

  • Advocacy for Waiting Children:
Donations enable Gladney to advocate for children in Texas state foster care and international orphanages and foster homes; especially those who are older, have special needs, and have experienced trauma; ensuring they have a chance to be adopted into permanent families.

  • Education and Support:
Contributions help provide educational resources and training to prospective adoptive families to prepare them for the adoption journey, as well as lifelong post adoption services to support adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters on North Texas Giving Day, the Gladney Center for Adoption is able to continue creating brighter futures for children and families. But the work doesn't stop here. Your ongoing support can make a lasting impact. Whether through making a donation, sharing the mission, or becoming an advocate for waiting children, there are many ways to get involved.
