The Gladney Center for Adoption is 130 years old in 2017! We celebrated all year long by sharing fun and interesting adoption facts about our history and culture. Because November is National Adoption Month, we're bringing you the top 3.

  1. In 1906 the Board of Directors bought a house on Ave. H in Fort Worth, Texas, where children lived until they were placed.  Visit Gladney’s Visitors Center at 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, TX to learn more about adoption and about Gladney’s history.
  2. Heidi Bruegel Cox was inducted into the adoption hall of fame in November of 2015 for National Adoption Month.
  3. When the orphan trains stopped in 1929, some 150,000 children found new homes in the American West, in what was called "one of the largest social experiments in American history."

Happy National Adoption Month!
