# Introducing the SuperKids Adventure Program

## What is the [SuperKids Adventure Program](https://adoptionsbygladney.mysamdb.com/SAM/Fm/HostingApplication_Edt.aspx)?

The [SuperKids Adventure Program](https://adoptionsbygladney.mysamdb.com/SAM/Fm/HostingApplication_Edt.aspx) is a unique opportunity for families to make a dramatic, life-long impact on the life of a child. In this program, children from Asian and Latin American countries are invited to approved homes in the US to stay for 2-3 weeks. During their stay, the family these kids get the opportunity to be showered with love and attention, learn about US culture, and feel what it is like to be part of a family. In turn, the family has the chance to learn more about the child, their story, and their culture. 

Who are the kids?  
The children who participate in the [SuperKids Adventure Program](https://adoptionsbygladney.mysamdb.com/SAM/Fm/HostingApplication_Edt.aspx) are all eligible for international adoption; they are from several countries in Latin America and Asia. They range in age from school-aged to teen with both single-child participants as well as sibling groups. All of the children are medically healthy or have minor medical needs. Many of them have been waiting for a forever family for a long time.   
Participating in the SuperKids Adventure Program also allows Gladney staff to get to know each child better so they can find a permanent placement for them.

Who are the families who typically participate?  
Families from Florida, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Utah all participate in the SuperKids Adventure Program. Each of these states have strong local support services; Gladney team members and friends are ready and available to support children and families throughout the program. 

The participating families have a heart for helping vulnerable children and want to do more to have a dramatic impact on a child’s life. Families who participate typically have a strong interest in adoption and are open to the idea of potentially adopting the child that they welcome into their home for the program. Families must meet the [prospective adoptive parent](https://madison.mysamdb.com/SAM/Fm/FamilyInformationSheet_Edt.aspx) requirements for the country of the child they wish to participate with.

Colombia is home to many children waiting for adoption, particularly older children, sibling groups, and children with medical needs. The Colombian government prioritizes placing children in families who will preserve their heritage while providing a loving, stable home.

**Why are children in Colombia waiting for adoption?**Many children in Colombia’s child welfare system have experienced hardship and need families who can provide stability, love, and care. Sibling groups often wait the longest, as the country prioritizes keeping siblings together.

**What is it like to adopt from Colombia?**Colombia has a well-structured adoption process that allows for pre-matching and opportunities like the SuperKids Adventure Program. Families who adopt from Colombia often travel for an extended stay to complete the legal process, allowing time to bond with their child before bringing them home.

The Philippines has a stable, Hague-accredited adoption program that focuses on placing children in loving, permanent homes. Many of the children waiting for adoption are older children and those with medical needs, but younger children are also eligible in certain circumstances.

**Why are children in the Philippines waiting for adoption?**  
Children enter the Philippine adoption system for a variety of reasons, including economic hardship and family circumstances. The country works hard to find local adoptive families first, but many children, especially those with special needs, still wait for international placements.

**What is it like to adopt from the Philippines?**  
Families adopting from the Philippines go through a rigorous approval process, ensuring that each child is matched with a loving and committed family. The Philippines has a strong emphasis on ethical adoptions, and families can expect to work closely with the country’s Inter-Country Adoption Board (ICAB) throughout the process.

Taiwan’s adoption program is small but growing, with children of various ages, including toddlers, school-aged children, and sibling groups, waiting for adoption. The country’s social welfare system prioritizes ethical adoptions and thorough background checks to ensure the best placements for children.

**Why are children in Taiwan waiting for adoption?**  
Many children in Taiwan’s child welfare system are placed in foster care, and adoption is pursued when reunification with their birth families is not possible. Children with mild to moderate medical needs and older children often wait the longest for families.

**What is it like to adopt from Taiwan?**  
Adopting from Taiwan involves a structured process that includes working with the Taiwanese courts and child welfare agencies. The country encourages adoptive families to maintain a connection to their child’s culture, and many families choose to continue fostering that bond after adoption.
