Ainsley_BabyWe met Ainsley in the hospital shortly after she was born. We were waiting outside the nursery with her biological grandparents looking and her birth father carried her into the room and held her up to the window. He pointed to his hospital gown and then to his eyes telling us her eyes were blue! We were sobbing and incoherently saying how beautiful she was. We fell instantly in love with her, but it was conflicting because her biological family was right beside us and were falling in love with her as much as we were. It was an overwhelming mix of extreme emotions.

From the Graduate

I was raised by amazing and loving parents and have always had a close relationship with my biological family. My parents became very close to my birth parents’ families before I was born. After placement, they blended my biological family with their own extended family. I have never had to question why I was placed for adoption or who my biological parents were or who I had inherited certain qualities or characteristics from. Adoption has given me a unique perspective on the healing power of relationships. I also realize the personal sacrifice and heartache that went into my being placed for adoption and what the word, "family" truly means. I feel complete because of the blending of my two families which grounded me in never having to question who I am and who I was meant to be.
