If you ever want to make 7-year-old Carrie smile, there’s a simple place to start: purple high-heeled shoes. Not just purple shoes. Not just high heels. PURPLE HIGH HEELS. Carrie has made this fashion preference very clear and is obviously a fashion icon.
Carrie is extroverted and endearing. She does best with caregivers and teachers who are gentle yet firm, responding better to a supportive approach than strict discipline. She enjoys reading and has a strong memory, often recalling things people have previously told her. For example, after government social workers spoke with her about preparations related to her adoption, she later asked them about any progress the next time she saw them. Carrie clearly keeps track of important conversations.
She enjoys Japanese animated series, board games, and dolls, and she especially likes the colors pink and purple. Her favorite foods include chocolate cake, strawberries, pasta, and meat, while bitter melon is firmly not on her favorites list.
Christopher is an almost 6-year-old boy who behaves well, is compliant, and is known for volunteering to help with household chores like folding and putting away laundry. He is lively, outgoing, and socially uninhibited, which is a noticeable contrast to the quieter behavior sometimes seen in the school setting. Christopher notices others’ cues and emotional states.
His favorite play activities include building blocks and toy cars, and his favorite color is yellow. While vegetables and noodles are not high on his list of favorites, he likes his carbs in the form of bubble milk tea (a Taiwan original) or apples. He also likes meat.
Carrie and Christopher’s future family should be trauma informed, ready to buy some amazing purple heels, and prepared to provide support and encouragement along with gentle parenting for these incredible siblings.
Carrie and Christopher were met by our team during the Superkids trip in the fall of 2025 and we’d love to share more. To learn more about them, please contact us InternationalPrograms@gladney.org.
