Who Can Participate?
Families from Florida, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Utah can participate in the 2025 SuperKids Adventure Program. Each of these states has strong local support services, with Gladney team members and community advocates ready to assist both children and families throughout the program.
A Global Mission: Who Does the SuperKids Adventure Program Serve?
The 2025 SuperKids Adventure Program is part of Gladney’s ongoing commitment to helping children in need of permanent families. This program serves waiting children from Taiwan, the Philippines, Colombia, and other countries where adoption opportunities for older children, sibling groups, and children with medical needs can be rare.
Each year, children from these countries travel to the US to experience family life firsthand, giving prospective adoptive families a chance to meet them, interact with them, and truly understand their personalities, interests, and needs. These experiences not only change the future for many children but also create meaningful connections between families and waiting children.
What is the SuperKids Adventure Program?
The SuperKids Adventure Program is a unique opportunity that allows children from Taiwan, the Philippines, Colombia, and other countries to visit the United States for 2–3 weeks, staying with families who help them experience the warmth, stability, and everyday moments of family life.
This program is not just about visiting a new place—it’s about being seen, known, and understood beyond a case file or photograph. During their stay, children:
- Form meaningful connections with families.
- Experience daily life in a family setting, helping them imagine what adoption could look like.
- Build confidence and trust, knowing they are valued for who they are.
For some children, this program leads to a direct match with an adoptive family. For others, it creates an opportunity for families to get to know them beyond a case file; it opens the door to future adoption possibilities. Either way, these weeks are a meaningful step toward finding a forever family.
Somewhere, a Child is Waiting
Every child deserves a family—a place to belong, to be loved, and to feel safe. But for many children in orphanages and foster care systems, that wait can feel endless. Some have spent years moving between temporary placements, while others have grown up in institutional care without the stability of a permanent family.
These children have the same hopes and dreams as any child:
- To have someone celebrate their birthdays.
- To sit down to meals with a family who knows them.
- To hear the words, “You matter, and you are loved.”
For many waiting children, the SuperKids Adventure Program offers a rare opportunity—to experience family life, even if just for a short time, while increasing their chances of finding a permanent adoptive home.
Who Are the Children in Need of Families?
Children in international foster care and orphanage systems range from toddlers to teenagers, but those who wait the longest for adoption are typically older children and sibling groups. Many have mild medical or developmental needs, though their greatest need is like any child’s: a loving, stable family.
These children have faced uncertainty and loss, yet they remain hopeful. They long for the simple, everyday experiences of being part of a family—things many of us take for granted.
Why Does This Program Matter?
In many countries, adoption—especially for older children—is rare. Without programs like SuperKids, many children would never have the chance to be considered for adoption.
Children who grow up without a permanent family face significant challenges as they transition into adulthood. The SuperKids Adventure Program provides an opportunity for them to:
- Experience love and connection in a family setting.
- Develop trust and confidence, knowing they are worthy of care.
- Show potential adoptive families who they really are—beyond their paperwork.
Most importantly, it gives them hope.
What It’s Like to Welcome a Child Through the SuperKids Adventure Program
For families who welcome a child through the SuperKids Adventure Program, the experience is one of learning, connection, and understanding.
At first, the child may be quiet, hesitant, and unsure of what to expect. But as they experience the rhythms of daily family life, small but meaningful moments begin to happen:
- A child who has never played in a backyard before runs freely.
- A child who has always eaten meals in a group setting sits at a family dinner table and joins in conversations.
- A child, who has never had someone tuck them in at night and pull their blankets up just a little tighter, feels safe.
These moments aren’t about rescuing a child—they’re about providing real experiences of love and belonging that every child deserves.
