The Next Right Thing

Posted by Mark Melson on 1/1/20 9:59 AM

Sitting in church this past Sunday our associate pastor was delivering a message taken from the movie Frozen 2.  I’ll admit that it took me about two years to see the first Frozen and I have yet to see the second, however I did YouTube what she was talking about.  In the movie there is a song that Anna (Kristin Bell) sings called The Next Right Thing. Even though I haven't seen the movie, this resonated with me because the message seemed to be about overcoming adversity or tackling big problems by doing The Next Right Thing.

You Support Gladney in Many Ways

Posted by Lisa Schuessler on 12/31/19 7:45 AM

As I reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future, I want you to know your support matters. I’m writing on behalf of women, children, and families who feel grateful for you during this season. Although they do not know you, I do, and I want to share this message of appreciation with you: Thank you for choosing to get involved with Gladney and giving towards our mission (and towards their lives).

Experiencing Home In Different Ways

Posted by Mark Melson on 12/19/19 9:00 AM

“There’s no place like home for the holidays,” the classic line by Perry Como that sets the tone for the holiday season (I bet you just sang it in your head). Home means fun holiday memories, I’m sure a few laughs, and maybe even a few tears. We all have our home for the holiday traditions. Who is hosting the festivities at their house? What will we bring? Who will be there? All of these make the season great!

Bill Porter Reflects on His Time in Taiwan

Posted by Bill Porter, M.Ed. on 12/17/19 2:07 PM
Regarding Asian culture, I am what my boys call a “Newbie”.  Growing up in Central America, I was heavily exposed to the Spanish/Latin culture, but not Asian.  So when I had a chance to travel to Taiwan to assist with Gladney’s Superkids program, I was a bit hesitant.  However, I decided to make the best of it and immerse myself both into the culture and the Gladney Super Kids program.  Gladney’s Superkids is a group of mental health and medical professionals who visit orphanages in Taiwan in an effort to help learn more about children who could potentially be matched for international adoption.  What a wonderful opportunity, to learn and enjoy a new culture, while also serving children who are in need of a loving and caring family.

MATCHED!! Be An Adoption Advocate for Ash (Taiwan)

Posted by Superkids Team on 12/5/19 7:30 AM

MATCHED!!

Ash is a sweet, clever 10 year old that we had the pleasure of meeting last month. It truly was a pleasure spending time with him – he did every task we threw his way, and he did them well! He completed all of our hard puzzles and was so gracious with everyone – us, the social workers, the other kids in the room. Ash is in the 5th grade where he gets good grades and told us he has lots of friends. He is learning some English in school and we could tell he was very proud to answer our questions in English when he could.

In addition to that once-in-a-lifetime experience and physical feat, they raised more than $42,000 in donations to support Gladney’s mission and serve others. We are so proud of and grateful for #TeamGladney!
